Project
The Contribution of Forests to National Income in Ethiopia and Linkages with REDD+
Client
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Objective
This report was created at the request of the Government of Ethiopia to the United Nations Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (UN-REDD+) program. The government requested the report to aid in assessing the contribution that their forest ecosystems have on the Ethiopian national income. The report accomplished this by assessing these three topics:
- Value added of the forestry sector: the contribution of forest ecosystem goods and services to the GDP of Ethiopia attributed to the forestry industry in the Ethiopian System of National Accounts (ESNA)
- Contribution of forest ecosystems to other sectors: contribution of forest ecosystem goods and services to the GDP attributed to other industries in the ESNA
- Non-market benefits: contribution of forest ecosystems to non-market income in Ethiopia
Our Role
