Better Policies for Better Lives – Kazakhstan Green Growth Indicator Workshop

Objective
This report was created to summarize the recommendations resulting from a workshop conducted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on behalf of the Committee on Statistics of Kazakhstan. The workshop was held in Astana, Kazakhstan and was centralized around the experience of the Committee on Statistics in compiling green growth indicators for Kazakhstan, on the basis of the OECD green growth indictors framework. The workshop focused on reviewing the initial results of implementing the OECD's green growth indicators in Kazakhstan. The workshop covered indicators from each of five principle blocks of the OECD's framework:
- Environmental and Resource Productivity
- Natural Asset Base
- Environmental Quality of Life
- Economic Opportunities and Political Response Measures
The report outlined findings and recommendations from the workshop on each of the green growth indicators and commented on the work that had been done up to date and recommendations to continue this work.
Our Role
Our Principal, Rob Smith, was one of three representatives for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The OECD conducted the workshop on behalf of the Committee on Statistics of Kazakhstan.
